[1] Release of version 2.0 is completed!

The success of this version has been overwhelming. This is due in large part to your feedback! Many of the enhancements made in version 2, were the direct result of requests for enhancements or added features.

Some of the sample comments from staff: "Oh, cool!" "Thank you!" "That will be wonderful!" "That's exactly what I wanted!"

[2] Support for version 1.2.2.

The release of Winx™ Pro 2.0 was completed on September 7, 2001. We recommend installation of version 2.0 ASAP. Support for version 1.2.2 will be discontinued as of November 30, 2001.

If you have not done so, call to schedule a time when support is available during your upgrade process.

[3] New preferences

Preferences are settings that control the default behavior of certain features in Winx™ Pro. Preference settings can be changed for each computer according to the needs of the user. Select "Preferences" from the "File" menu and select the desired tab to make changes to preferences.

ADJUSTMENT ASSISTANT
In version 2.0 the "Adjustment Assistant" was introduced. It is a "smart" agent to assist you when making insurance transfers. It is smart enough to set some of the transfer information for you and prevent data entry errors.

The "Adjustment Assistant" preference is found on the "General" tab of the "Preferences" window. To activate this preference, place an "X" in the checkbox next to "Adjustment Assistant."

The "Adjustment Assistant" works in the Adjustment window. The Adjustment window is used when transferring balances from the primary insurance to the secondary payer or the patient. The Adjustment window is accessed from Insurance receipts, Patient receipts, or Slip Items by selecting the calculator button.

To utilize the "Adjustment Assistant" feature, open the "Adjustment" window. Select "Transfer to Another Insurance" from the "Reason Type" popup list. The checkbox "To Payer" and the secondary payer are filled in automatically. When transferring the balance to the patient select the "Reason Type" "Transfer From Insurance To Patient." The checkbox "To Person" will be automatically filled in. Accept the adjustment and the balance is transferred according to the selected "Reason Type".

LEDGER SUMMARY
In version 2.0, the patient ledger can be opened in either detail or summary form. To set the ledger to open in summary form, place an "X" in the "Ledger Summary" checkbox. Conversely to set the ledger to open in detail form, remove the "X" from the "Ledger Summary" checkbox.

Displaying the Ledger in Summary mode is faster than showing all of the Ledger detail. This new Winx™ Pro 2.0.4 feature gives you the flexibility to decide between faster Ledger display or more Ledger detail. Set the Ledger Summary preference according to the needs of each user.

BIRTHDAY NOTIFICATION
Would you like to be notified when patient's birthdays are approaching? Setting the "Birthday Notification" preference allows you to be notified of pending or recently passed birthdays when the patient record is opened to the Demographic tab.

To set the Birthday notification preference, begin by selecting the "Appearance" tab of the "Preferences" window. Enter a number in the "Days Before" and "Days After" fields.

Select a sound from the "Sound" popup to activate an auditory reminder.

Place an "X" in the "Display Alert" checkbox to activate the visual reminder.

[4] Faster data entry from pop-ups

Typing the first letter or letters of that item can quickly access each item in a Winx™ Pro pop-up. For example: Typing "f" in the Product Type field of a Slip item will select "Frame."

If there is more than one item with the same first letter, simply type additional letters until the desired item appears in the popup list.

[5] Editing payments and adjustments

With the release of 2.0, payments and adjustments can now be edited from the ledger. To open a payment or adjustment, simply double-click the desired item from the patient ledger. To edit the payment or adjustment, simply change the desired information and select the "accept" button.

Use care when editing payments and adjustments as this will affect the patient's overall balance due.

[6] Field functionality changes

Some of you have requested that fields like "Color" in the Frame table be changed to allow editing within the field. The early development of this feature has been completed. It was determined that further testing was necessary before final release. Look for this feature in future versions.

[7] Patient registration form

We have also received a request for a registration form that can be printed directly from Winx™ Pro. Development is in the analysis phase for this feature.

[8] Workflow tracking

In a busy office it is difficult to remember who helped which patient on any given day. Analysis has begun on adding a feature to identify which staff member created a given Slip item.
