[2] Keyboard shortcuts

Here are some of the keyboard shortcuts available in Winx™ Pro.
With a Windows system, use the CTRL key plus the key listed.
With a Macintosh system, use the Command (Apple) key plus the key listed.

D - Duplicates a Slip item
E - Opens the Query editor from a list view
F - Find. This shortcut functions the same as the "Find" buttons on various layouts.
L - Opens the schedule.
N - New record. Examples: a Person record, a Slip, a Slip item.
P - Displays a list of reports.

[3] Rapid relate button

Have you ever wanted to print labels for only Medicare patients?
Have you ever wanted to review patient information quickly, while looking at an appointment?

Then you need Winx™ Pro's Rapid relate button.

On selected windows, below the "Trash can" icon is a button that has a magnifying glass and an upside-down triangle. This is the Rapid relate button.

Let's use the example of the labels for Medicare patients. To begin, click on "Insurance" from the navigation palette. This opens the list view of the Insurance table. Locate "Medicare" and double-click. This opens the Medicare record.

Single-click on the triangle portion of the Rapid relate button and select "Person" from the list. A Person list view displays containing all patient records that have Medicare as an insurance payer.

To print labels, select the report list with CTRL-P (Windows) Command-P (Mac), open the label editor from the list of reports, load or create a template, and print the needed labels.

[4] Slip item and adjustment changes

The next release of Winx™ Pro will contain a change to the behavior of the Slip item and the Adjustment windows.

Background:

Many of you stressed the importance of having an audit trail for every transaction during our early analysis phase. This includes transactions such as: original charges, adjustments, charges sent to a secondary payer, charges billed to the patient, charges billed to insurance with a copay from the patient, payments, etc.

We evaluated many of the existing software products for optometric practices. We did not find any that could handle this requirement. They used cumbersome workarounds or simply did not handle it at all.

We developed a process to handle the audit trail requirement. Part of that process often requires the transfer of a Slip item to the secondary payer or the Patient.

We must duplicate some of the information for the transferred Slip item in order to keep the audit trail intact. One requirement is the secondary payer be notified of the original fee amount. We must also indicate what was paid/written off by the primary insurance to keep bookkeeping accurate.

Some Slip Item data entry scenarios in Winx™ Pro 1.2.2 require additional adjustments when Slip Item data is transferred to a secondary payer to offset the original fee. This may cause some adjustment figures to be artificially inflated. We made changes to the Slip items and adjustment windows to eliminate the need for these additional adjustments.

The next version of Winx™ Pro will review your data to determine if an automated update is required. Winx™ Pro will update the data so your staff is not required to manually update these Slip items if an update is required.

This change in behavior is designed to improve efficiency and decrease confusion with regard to adjustments and balances due when transfers are made.

Some of you have requested a user group meeting. We are in a preliminary planning phase for a user group meeting.

We anticipate combining this meeting with a training session to highlight the new features and enhancements contained in the next two releases.
